Mt. Hood Day 1

Greetings from the fabulous Huckleberry Inn!

The U-16/14 Camp at Mt. Hood is off to a great start. It was a bluebird day today and although the snow was soft, it was nothing we couldn't handle. There were a few mishaps with Lange boot athletes, but that didn't stop them from skiing! They swapped boots with the kids in their group and skied until the last chair. For recovery, a group decided to start walking down the access road. Thanks to forgetful coaches, we ended up walking all the way back to the Huckleberry Inn, roughly a six-mile adventure. (They are lucky we didn't resort to hitchhiking.) Coaches edit: It's more complicated, I wouldn't say 'forgetful' is the right word for the coaches, but we'll let it slip this time. And, I believe six miles is an exaggeration. In the afternoon, Darrell led us in a jog/stretch. Darrell was impressed by our flexibility compared to the FIS Men, aside from Trevor Kahl and his butterfly stretch. After that we had plenty of time to explore the dazzling town of Government Camp. Go carts, bungee jumping, shakes, and all. Overall, we've had a great start to our camp, and to top it off, BURGERS FOR DINNER! Greg would be proud - our plates were very colorful... every shade of brown! Shout out to Eric Harlow: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We had cake in honor of you!
Here are a few photos from the day:

Silas talking with the gals: (L to R) Anna B., Olivia, and Jordan
Tim and Peter stop to smile for the camera - with a great view to the south - Mt. Jefferson and a nearby forest fire

Olivia showing us her mad push-up skillz

Hope all of the FIS athletes are having fun in Chile and New Zealand! The U.S. is treating us great.

Tell Bay Ross however that if she doesn't call her parents to let them know that she's alive and well- I might have to post embarrassing childhood photos tomorrow...(captain underpants)
