Travel and Pre-Day 1

Some pics from our travel day and a look from the bottom at Loveland.

Snow never looked so good.

Thanks for everyone's patience and support through a tough couple of days!!

Halloween...on campus

Only a few kids left on campus as we wait to depart for Colorado later today. Obviously the small numbers aren't dampening the enthusiasm for Halloween!

Early Loveland Skiers

After a few missed days of blogging, we're happy to report that out here in Loveland there is not much to report! The weather has been beautiful, the snow consistent and the skiing inspired.
We've been lucky enough to train Slalom next to the US men and they have kept the girls on their toes.
We're all hoping to see most of the FIS group tomorrow, and sending our best to everyone back on the east coast.

Fresh content... Ligety and 2.75 seconds

Fresh content is the life blood of any blog. Truth is, we've been dealing with some uncertainty up here in terms of travel arrangements. We'll continue to stay positive and play with the cards we're dealt.

In the meantime, Physics whiz Dave Iverson has the following tidbits to share with you all.

Thanks DI!

Check it out:

Hi folks,

Yesterday I thought about how to visualize the gap between Ted Ligety and the rest of the field at the Soelden GS. The result is the following YouTube video and website.

Enjoy and please share with anybody who might be interested.

Thank you.

Powder Day at Loveland!

If you'd asked us yesterday if it was winter, you might have gotten a long hesitation. Today however, we woke up to a winter wonderland! While the actual totals were closer to four or five inches, to us it seemed like we needed a snorkel to ski.
Between the sunshine and the snow, it was a great day to be on the slopes, we skied until our legs gave out.
It's still snowing now, so let's hope it's just as sweet tomorrow!

Gymnastics Pics

Here are some photos of the girls from a recent gymnastics session in St. J.

Early group first day at Loveland

The small group of girls that trekked out to Colorado early had their first day on snow today, and all in all it was pretty positive!
Moriah Wilson had her first day back on snow since tearing her ACL in February. She felt great and is ready for more.
Lisa and Nicole got a lot of drills in, including a lot of time on one ski.
Although there was not a lot of snow at Loveland, there was good cover on the one trail that was open and they were madly blowing more All that on top of the fact that there is a storm coming in bodes well for the rest of our time out west!
Here's a couple photos of the girls at the continental divide and recovering in the gym.

A real life lesson

Western Civ learns how to build an effective phalanx - no word yet on whether they're going to be facing invaders here on campus...?

Fall sunset football

Seems like all the Burkie boys are out here playing before dinner - making the most of this beautiful day!

Solden WC

So Harlow has been pretty persistent on getting the coaches to use the blog, I've been holding out for a good one, so here ya go.  I'm in Solden with the Mens WC tech team and I can say that the intensity levels are high.  Ted is firing on all cylinders right now, he is a true professional.  It's amazing to see how he treats his training runs, he gives it every time and then tries to push it even further the next.  Truly a sight to see.  I have some video that I'll post when I get back to the US, the internet here is a bit like being in Chile, SLOW.  Here are a few pics from the last couple days.

Ohhh yeah PSAT.

Mountain Leg Routine

It was a beautiful day on Burke for a mountain leg routine!

BMA girls soccer finished their season yesterday

The Burkie Bears outscored the White Mountain School yesterday in a chilly match in New Hampshire. Lexi works the plank on the sidelines (soccer watchers?) to try to stay warm, while Bryna enjoys a heated seat.

Sand Pits, Death Pits and a Beautiful Sunset

Typical day in the life of the Burkie Bears...

Morning workout in the rain.

Sand pits and death pits (modified sand pits for the dinged up athletes, very hard) in the afternoon.

Beautiful sunset.

Looking forward to weights and field circuits on Saturday morning...
