Where did you get that sweat on your shirt?

I sent an email requesting current Burkies to send me a picture of their sweaty BMA shirt taken in the location in which the training took place...

This is what I have so far... so if you have worked out in a BMA shirt and pulled a few beads of sweat, take a picure and send it to me. I'll post it for the all the "BMA" world to see!

Chris Jones - owes me a picture of the shirt, but this is where he's working out... at Parisi Speed School - Saco, Maine

Parker Biele - On the tennis court, sweeping, cleaning, playing and running suicides!

Jeff Sirjane - The wood that heats you many times each year!

Darrell Gray - No hills in North Myrtle Beach; stadium stairs will have to do!

OK this is the start...Anyone who reads this can send me a picture of their sweaty BMA t-shirt on location and I'll add you to the blog. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

So go ahead put on your BMA apparel, go for a work out and send me a picture of the end result!

Medquest Camp

Rising junior Andrew Hanus just finished a week at Medquest camp. Designed for rising juniors, the camp explores medical careers by following different disciplines throughout the medical field. The students stayed at Johnson State College and camp counselors were UVM medical students.Andrew's highlight was watching a laparoscopic surgery and dissecting a sheep heart. They also spent time in a trauma center, visited a respiratory doc and in general learned about many different career paths. The camp comes highly recommend by his parents as a great introduction to the medical field. It is Federally funded  and offered in every state.

Alpine Plants

As many of you know, my love of the outdoors brings me to the top of Mount Mansfield for a few days each summer where I am a volunteer caretaker for the Green Mountain Club, supporting their efforts to keep people on the rocks and off the fragile alpine tundra that grows above tree line.

This past weekend Sophie, Sammi, Brianna and Daphnee came up to visit (along with Ashley, Nick, Melanie and Gilbert), and got a short lesson in mountain ecology.

FIS Dryland Camp Day 5 - BMA Snowmaking Team Initiative

This mornings program consists of a Team Initiative designed to replicate the Burke snow making system. Water must be moved from the pond up the mountain through a series of "water containment devices and pump stations" before finally reaching it's destination at the top of the Poma. The problem is no one really knows how many "containers" must be filled at the top, nor how many "pump stations" must be prepared along the way. Communication is key as is resiliency, strength and the ability to handle the inevitable "burst pipes" along the way!

The Start

The Final Destination

The process...

You can smell them, you just can't stop...

Doesn't really need a caption to describe the feeling here...

Heading down for the last buckets!

The last buckets on their way!

Lisa: "Darrell, can I have your phone?" Darrell: "Why do they have water in those buckets?"

Thanks for a great camp! Keep your summer "All Burke and plenty of Play!"

FIS Dryland Camp Day 4
Back on campus and after a morning plyometric session we passed out the T-shirts with the theme for Friday's team initiative / workout - BMA Snowmaking Team! The shirts look great but I admit there was a bit of apprehension in the group as they began to plan a strategy for the next mornings workout.

Coordinative Strength Session - Afternoon

Overhead walking forward and reverse lunges on a slight side hill adds a bit of challenge to maintaining balance.

Pour water into a PVC pipe until about half full and you have a dynamic addition to routine movements.

All Burke no Play? Not today! Lake Willoughby provides the perfect end of day cool off!

Last dinner of the camp! Thanks Amy for the excellent meals!

Cool NEK nights a warm fire and S'mores. It doesn't get much better!
