Right now we're in the process of launching an integrated approach to learning French at Burke Mountain Academy!
This approach is integral on a number of different levels:
-The development of language ability is integrated
with the development of cultural knowledge and intelligence.
-The language learning process integrates
multi-modality experience including kinesthetic, auditory and visual aspects
and both right and left brain activating activities.
-The development of language ability is integrated
with the development of character, with a focus on self-awareness and the
ability to communicate and cooperate with others.
-The development of language ability is integrated
into the day to day activities of students both in and out of class as a
community of language speakers is cultivated by design.
-The development of language ability is integrated
when possible with students’ neuromuscular integration, sensory-motor awareness
and general athletic development.
-The development of language ability is integrated
when possible with the interests of students and with the content of other
academic classes.
