Yesterday was the last chemistry lab of the year. The students ended the term with a focus on
organic chemistry. In class we had a
demonstration on the super-absorbent properties of the polymer Sodium
polyacrylate (in diapers). Then students
mixed Elmer's glue solution with Sodium borate to make their own
"gack", a silly putty type of material. This type of polymer is called an elastomer.
