Crawfish Boil

On Saturday Burkies were treated to a spicy Cajun feast. There was an endless supply of crawfish and shrimp along with cornbread, potatoes, corn on the cob, and salad. There were a few landlubbers who had burgers and hot dogs and everyone washed dinner down with  delicious sweet tea. Many thanks to the Lynch family for bringing a little bit of Louisiana to the North!
Thank you Alex, Ian, Izzy and Liza!

Senior Trip - Bike Rodeo

The seniors began the community service portion of their trip by helping facilitate the Bike Rode at the Whitefield Elementary School in the White Mountains of NH, where they will be recreating later in the week. They were professional, encouraging and positive and the principal noted how focused they were on the kids.
Audrey and Anna work with Katie to practice signaling.  Katie was a rock-star and we are likely to see her on the professional cross bike circuit in the future!

Profile Road Race - "Hell of the North"

The Burke bike team raced at Profile School in Franconia, NH yesterday. It was a 23.5 mile HILLY ride, which was riddled with pot holes, sandy streets, AND great views of the White Mountains! It was a beautiful, warm afternoon for a road race. For results, Moriah and Liam were both 5th in their C groups. The rest of our crew were solidly in the middle of the pack - not bad for a bunch of ski racers who have barely road biked and raced only a few times! Way to go!

Ian's first mountain bike ride!

Because Ian wasn't here in the fall he missed out on the skills day most kids did on mountain bikes. Today was his first trail ride and he's crushing it! Here he is throwing down on Parr's Yard.

Woodswoman Work at Sam & Tory's

Last Thursday afternoon the Women's Team went to Sam and Tory's home for some woodworking activities. After the work/competition ended, Sam & Tory cooked up a delicious BBQ. The girls enjoyed some time away from campus - they were working hard but having fun!

Gould Road Race

The team traveled to Bethel, ME to compete in the Gould Academy sponsored Grafton Notch Challenge. The course had a neutral rollout of 3 miles, then the racing began with 20 miles of gradual uphill roads. On her first day on the bike this year Dani won the Women's C race!

Dani's win!

The team is all smiles.

Now that he has his license, Yale took this on a test drive.

The kids cooled their legs off in the Androscoggin River.
