Trail Work for Kingdom Trails

Wednesday morning workout was helping Kingdom Trails build a new trail above East Burke Village.  I think over 40 students and adults helped.  You can see those pictures on facebook.  I was able to join them for round 2 on Thursday afternoon.  Students had the option to help and many chose to do trail work before or after hiking or biking.  Some just passed through during their workout.  I was impressed with the enthusiasm for trail work!  I only got a few photos but here is who I can remember: Darrell, DI, Christin, Viv, Chris R, Connor, Fredi, Matt P, Kelsey, Jennette, McKenna, Tatum, Ella, Gigi, Lili, Tess, Brianna M, Meg, Brianna T (passed through during workout with...?)
Photobomb!

Calculus Writing Assignment

A few years ago, I included a major writing assignment in both PreCalculus and Calculus as part of a "writing across the curriculum" initiative.  This year's Calculus class really took on the challenge and produced something that is worth sharing with the broader community.

RBC Update

Despite a late spring dusting of snow, the White Throated Sparrows, Ovenbirds and Caterpillar 3200s were all chirping away this morning.  Here is the scene from the RBC construction.

Burke Bike Swap

The sophomore class (class of 2018) sponsored the 4th Annual Burke Bike Swap on Saturday, May7 at The Wildflower Inn.  They did almost $10,000 in sales with support from Village Sport Shop and East Burke Sports.  They raised at least $1600 for the Vermont Children's Theater.
Tatum and Maddy hauled this up from Willoughby, a substitute for afternoon training.

Hope Color Run

Our seniors have been busy donating their time and energy to the local community.  After a full day of trail work on Friday, they spent Saturday morning volunteering at the HOPE color run in Lyndonville.  From the looks of it, they had a great time!
