The Finishing Touch on June Camp

I'm a terrible blogger, but I'm trying to mend my ways. Here's a picture of the girls writing their self-evaluations on the last night of our camp. We had a lot of moisture today but worked on salting a lane with the Ontario team and got a couple hours of good freeskiing in despite the weather. And we got to ski with Jake Gougeon, Corey McConville, and Max McVey!

Alumni campers Kenny and Sandy. At the very moment of this photo Kenny is participating in a conference call...from his pocket. We are glad to have Burke alumni around to teach about the important of having work/life balance - when it's a bluebird day and you're at Mt Hood, GO SKIING!!

Eve's group dominates Mt Hood

All photos courtesy of Eve Routhier, our guest coach extraordinaire. Eve is a former Canadian World Cup skier who recently retired and will be attending college in Quebec City in the fall. Her most recent claim to fame is as the featured athlete on SkiRacing.com's Facebook page!

About to drop into the cornice! We get tons of mileage by skiing out toward the Zigzag canyon - it's epic!

Skiing the Cornice + Swimming at Trillium

Skiing to nowhere (to the cornice, but it looks like nowhere!)

Group shot, with the cornice on the left, L to R: Fredi, Ian, Matt, Christopher, Gigi, Cole, Lizzy, Chris, Will, Forest
Many other U16s and U14s did the cornice too. So FUN!!!

Skiing the cornice - I can't remember who this is, and I can't tell... sorry!

It was soooo steep when you were looking down it!

Mt Hood has such neat volcanic features - one of many canyons

With the strong sun we need LOTS of sunscreen - Gigi

Everyone went for a walk around Trillium Lake, and some went swimming after - I was told the lake is cold.

And then the sun came out!

A happy hello from sunny Mt Hood! After two days of really amazing downpours, we have returned to full sun out here and couldn't be happier about it! Here are pics of the U16 and U14 girls that skied with Kirk and Tory today - we'll get pictures of the other groups soon!

Holly, Parker, Kirk, Jennette, Mckenna, Tatum and Brianna

Sophie, Charlie, Ella, LiLi, and Julia

The SUN came out!

After such cold wet days, the sun was very welcomed today. It was actually pretty hot up there! We had a great day skiing.

Rainy Days at Hood

We've tried to stay busy these last two rainy days. We've done a bunch of video, core workouts, tuning clinics, and technique talks. We also went bowling this afternoon, which was super fun, and it brought out everyone's competitive side! Finally, the athletes have been playing a bunch of card games!
Sorry the quality of my photos is pretty poor - it's hard to get good photos in such dark spaces! Here's to the sun shining a lot in the coming week!

Kirk showing video - (take note, don't worry, this is what NOT to do)
 Corey's ski talk
Ex-World Cup Canadian skier Eve Routhier lead a core workout for the U16 girls. (The boys did one too.)
 Ava, Cleo, Charlie, Paige
 Gigi, Tatum, Maggie bowling
 The scene bowling
Forest, Chris R, Shamus, Jack, Andrew
They got creative with how to play poker. Ritz for the stakes.
