Canadian World Cup Coach Speaks to Us
Tim Gfeller, the Canadian Women's World Cup Technical Coach spoke to the U16s and U14s last night. I would argue it was one of the best speakers we've had in my memory! He shared a few things he thought differentiate World Cup skiers from young club skiers. He encouraged our athletes to become students of the sport, know their equipment, know their bodies, understand their skiing, and pay attention to the details. The athletes had awesome questions for him after too!

New snow
Summit County is getting more new snow today and into tomorrow. The U16s got some "freshies" in the 8am training block at Loveland while the FIS crew had the 6:30am block at Copper!

U16 & U14 Girls Complete Z Girls!
Many of the U16 and U14 girls finished off a 6-day, 6-session workshop yesterday, where they learned mental skills to help them as ski racers and talked about ways they can be confident young women. Former Olympian and US Ski Team member Libby Ludlow ran the workshop. The topics included Positive Self-Talk, Confidence, Goal Setting, Body Image & Nutrition, and Communication & Support Networks.
Check out Z Girls to learn more about the program.
Here's a photo from the final day when they received Z Girls water bottles.

More training pictures...
Hi everyone! Colorado camp is more than halfway done, and we're moving into the final phase of the camp. Some of the FIS athletes have begun racing, and congrats especially to Freddy Maurstad and Dani Brownell-Patty who have so far each won runs at the USST Nor-Am qualifying races. One more race for the girls tomorrow!
The U16 and U14 girls had GS training at Loveland this morning, and it was the first day in gates for a few of the younger girls. Here are some pictures, and let's all remember to go back and look at these sunny, blue-sky photos at some point in February!

U16 & U14 Training at Loveland
The girls trained slalom while the guys trained GS. Here are some actions shots and lift riding pics. It was another great day on the hill. When I asked some guys how the GS training was they were soooo pumped.
